Back in January of 2024, the Huffines Motor Company stopped running commercials on Wheels. At that time, Don Grantham and John Ingram actually hosted the show, but the weekday promotional spots for the show primarily highlighted the pre-recorded “familiar features by Ed Wallace”. So, the show effectively remained “Wheels with Ed Wallace”, as the show’s content and form varied little from the prior year where Wallace dominated the microphone.
It was always incongruous that Huffines sent money to Wheels. The Huffines family owns the Huffines Motor Company. Former Texas Senator Don Huffines is a member of that family and is known for advocating conservative policies. The same policies that Ed Wallace castigates and mocks on his radio show. So it is a mystery as to why the Huffines Motor Company funded opposition to a family member for as long as they did.
As for Wallace accepting cash from the Huffines, there is correlation with his silence on the political activities of Don Huffines. Wallace frequently lambasted Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s policies. Yet, when Don Huffines ran against Abbott in the 2022 Texas Republican Governor primary with even more conservative positions, there was never a mention of Don Huffines during Wheels. Not in the show opening. Not in Second Hand News. Not anytime during the show. Was Wallace’s silence effectively purchased? You might very well think that. Outside Automotive couldn't possibly comment.
Regardless the causation, Huffines dropped the six radio spots that they ran on the show, three for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram and three for Hyundai/Genesis.
Five months later, the Automotive Edge Radio Show with host Kurt Chase made a bid to capture that sponsorship. Chase and his sidekick Bo Carver auditioned by performing a live remote at the Huffines’ Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram Plano dealership on May 11, 2024. It was a one and done engagement.
Moving ahead a year to January of 2025, Norm Reeves‘ termination of their sponsorship of Dallas area car talkers opened up the Hyundai brand slot of The Car Pro Show. And Huffines immediately jumped to fill it. Jerry Reynolds’ introduction of Huffines Hyundai as a sponsor went as follows:
The Car Pro Show
Todd Chambless Jerry Reynolds But boy, there is a marked, noticeable, way they do business when they've been in business that long, you know, they just talk about in it for the long haul. These guys have already had the long haul. So… Todd Chambless Jerry Reynolds [Some

Huffines apparently wants to run commercials on a Saturday morning automotive radio show. But at some point found Wheels lacking. And then, after serious consideration, Huffines reached that same conclusion about The Automotive Edge Radio show.
So, as per their jingle, when it comes to Huffines’ radio spots, the Car Pro has it.
