It is the age-old conundrum of whether something is malfeasance or incompetence.
At the beginning of the May 24th show, hosts Don Grantham and John Ingram welcomed Classic Chevrolet Collision Center’s Director Brian Cunningham to the KLIF’s Cruise Control radio show. They were gleeful at having a body shop to recommend to the audience members.
But then the prevarication began.

Grantham and Ingram both claimed that the radio show had been without a recommended body shop for over a decade. They repeated that claim twice more (10:30AM, 10:56AM) before the show was over. This was false information.

Less than three years ago, the Sewell Collision Center was a full sponsor of the radio show. That body shop had prominent product placement on the home page of the show’s website for over a decade. It also had its own commercials aired during the show.

Possibly taking inspiration from that commercial, did Grantham and Ingram want to remove that memory of a lost sponsor (Sewell)?
The explanation for the body shop fiction is either an intentional deception or incompetence. It has been less than three years since Sewell went their separate way from Wheels (now Cruise Control). It was not a decade or more. Did they know that and mislead the audience, which would be malfeasance. Or did they forget their own recent history, hence incompetence.
To conclude; they knew, or should have known. So which trait do you prefer for your automotive radio car hosts: malfeasance or incompetence? None of the above is the correct answer.
