Two months after Autobahn Fort Worth stopped airing advertisements on WBAP’s CarPro radio show, Jerry Reynolds addressed their departure during his September 9th show.
The Car Pro Show
Um… You know, as great an association as we had… Um… and I bought, I don't know, ten cars from him, probably myself. Uh… They got a new general manager in, from California, and the first thing he did, maybe the second, was cut all advertising.” Kevin McCarthy Jerry Reynolds Kevin McCarthy Jerry Reynolds Kevin McCarthy Jerry Reynolds Kevin McCarthy Jerry Reynolds |
So, instead of only speculation, the audience now has WBAP CarPro’s belated explanation of why Autobahn Fort Worth exited the CarPro radio and referral program. According to the CarPro hosts, a new general manager ended all advertising without first evaluating the ads’ productivity. True or not, how the CarPro hosts conclude this explanation is noteworthy, as neither Reynolds nor McCarthy impugns the character of their former sponsor.
Conversely, to this date, Ed Wallace has not addressed the recent loss of advertising on KLIF Wheels from the dealerships of Autobahn Fort Worth, Frank Kent Cadillac, and the Sewell Automotive Companies. Perhaps, those dealerships should be grateful for this silence, as Wallace has a history of trashing some former sponsors (i.e. Village Ford of Lewisville) for years after the separation.
