Listen to any of the Dallas area automotive radio shows and one hears the touting their sponsors as if they long time friends. And maybe that relationship existed when that sponsorship deal was originally struck. But as times passes, ownership and personnel changes. Yet the rhetoric rarely changes. Suddenly, the new guy is a long lost pal. And the show host barks for all to patronize his “curated” covey of friends for as long advertising dollars keep coming.
Norm Reeves Pulls Commercials from “The Automotive Edge Radio Show”
Kurt Chase, host of The Automotive Edge Radio Show, had been performing live reads for Norm Reeves Honda Superstore North Richland Hills as recently as February 2025. Afterwards, that personalized endorsement subsequently was downgraded to pre-recorded commercials. But, their presence was still significant as the Norm Reeves commercial was recently aired four times within the first hour of the Edge’s March 22, 2024 show. Alas, that association is now completely severed, as per the following audio.

While one might be confused as to how Chase equates Norm Reeves pulling “weeklies” commercials with him firing them, the end result is the same.
As to how the sponsorship began, Huggins Honda was the entity that originally purchased spots on the show. About three years ago, the Norm Reeves Auto Group purchased Huggins Honda. And no matter who was general manager or general sales manager (and there have been several), they were all presented as great friends. Regardless, the relationship has ended as Norm Reeves is neither heard on the show nor listed on its website’s sponsors page.
Norm Reeves Pulls Commercials from “Wheels”
Of the three DFW car talk shows, the Wheels with Don Grantham and John Ingram radio show was the first dropped by Norm Reeves Honda Superstore North Richland Hills. Norm Reeves’ had been running four spots per show. But after the December 28, 2024 show, those spots aired no more. Then three weeks later, Ed Wallace deleted the Norm Reeves referral from Wheels’ Inside Automotive website.
Norm Reeves Pulls Commercials from “The Car Pro Show”
One week after Wheels was dropped; The Car Pro Show was the next to be axed by the Norm Reeves Auto Group. Around August of 2024, the Freeman Auto Group sold some dealerships to Norm Reeves, including the Irving Hyundai / Genesis outlet that ran commercials on the Car Pro show. For a few months, Norm Reeves continued paying to run those spots under their banner. But that sponsorship ended with their last commercials aired on January 4, 2025.
To conclude, it appears that the Norm Reeves Auto Group has determined that the cost of sponsoring these car talkers is not justified by the costumer traffic that that association generates.
So concludes the dalliance of the Norm Reeves Auto Group and the DFW metroplex automotive radio sponsorship. But it is not all bad news for the host of The Automotive Edge Radio Show. For once, Kurt came in first instead of last when in direct competition for the heart of a sponsor. Whereas Chase held Norm Reeves as a sponsor for a couple of months longer than the others, that could be called a “win”.
